Choose between pay-per-order and prepaid credits

Compare paying by card on each order with paying from a prepaid credit balance, and see what changes when your organization switches to credits for good.

Your organization can pay for letters by card on each order, or from a prepaid credit balance. Every new organization starts on pay-per-order. Credits lower your prices, but the switch is permanent, so decide before your first top-up.

Compare the three pricing tiers

Credits come in two tiers, Credit and Credit+. For the price of each option, see the pricing page.

How pay-per-order works

When you click Place Order, we charge the tax-included total to your organization's default card. The card is shown under the button, for example "Charged to Visa ••4242". Card orders are always billed at list price, and you need a saved card in Settings → Payment methods to order.

How prepaid credits work

An admin adds credit (a top-up) to your organization's balance by card, from $10 to $2,000 per payment. When anyone in your organization places an order, the tax-included total comes out of the balance at Credit or Credit+ prices.

  • Tax is charged on each order, not on top-ups. Learn how tax is calculated on your orders.
  • There's no card fallback. If the balance doesn't cover an order, it can't be placed until an admin adds credit. To avoid running out, an admin can turn on auto-reload, which tops up the balance after an order leaves it below an amount you choose.
  • You get one invoice a month instead of a receipt per order. See where to find your invoices and receipts.
  • You don't need a saved card to order, only to add credit.
  • Your balance doesn't expire. It can't be transferred or cashed out while your account is open. If your organization's account is closed, we refund the unused balance, less any amounts owed.

A single top-up of $300 or more also earns Credit+ for a set number of days. See how to get and keep Credit+ pricing.

Decide which one fits your business

Pay-per-order suits you if you send letters now and then and want nothing to manage.

Credits suit you if you send letters regularly. You save on every letter and get one invoice a month, but an admin needs to keep the balance funded or set up auto-reload.

What changes when you switch, and why you can't switch back

Your first top-up moves your organization to prepaid credits for good. You can't switch back to pay-per-order, and orders are never charged to a card again.

Receipts for orders you paid by card before the switch stay on the Invoices page, under Card receipts.

Cancelling an order depends on how you paid

While a credit-paid order's status is Placed, an admin or the person who placed it can click Cancel order on its order page. The full amount goes back to your credit balance.

Card-paid orders can't be cancelled from the dashboard, so contact us instead. See how to change or cancel an order.
